“Everything – burgers, pizza, brunch, barbecue – seems to taste so much better when eaten outside. Paired with a really cold beer or a glass of wine and it’s over. Luckily, many Detroit eateries provide patios, rooftop bars, and secluded backyards for the ideal dose of Vitamin D and there are even more on the way (Gold Cash Gold Detroit, Selden Standard, Punch Bowl Social – Detroit, La Noria Bistro, and Kuzzo’s Chicken & Waffles just to name a few). Here, in alphabetical order, are 22 sun-soaked patios spanning the city.”

Read the full list from Thrillist.

As cracks in Detroit’s seemingly impenetrable silver lining (aka, the sky) start to appear, it seems that we’re ready to rush out and enjoy the few fleeting and sweet months of Bob Seger’s favorite season. Detroit’s recent craft beer boom is great for both beer lovers and the local economy. But trying to keep all the new taprooms straight can be a bit tricky.

BATCH VS. BREW
Two of Detroit’s newest breweries – Batch Brewing Company and Brew Detroit – have similar names and are each located in Corktown.

JOLLY PUMPKIN VS. HOPCAT
The beer started flowing this month at Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery Detroit, which is nestled down the street from Shinola, Traffic Jam & Snug and Motor City Brewing Works in Midtown.
Hopcat – Detroit, which opened last December in a historic building at the corner of Woodward and Canfield, lays claim to offering Michigan’s largest tap selection – 130 to be exact.

MORE NEWCOMERS
We also recommend stops at Detroit Beer Company and Atwater in the Park, which is just outside of the city’s limits in Grosse Pointe Park.
