SPRING IN DETROIT: BELLE ISLE SOAKS UP SOME SUN

After a week of random snow flurries, has spring finally arrived in Detroit?
We roamed Belle Isle on Friday and noticed daffodils in full bloom – and tulips trying hard to see the sun. Visitors brought their lunches to park benches; runners jogged along the river; walkers took in the sun.

“Join us for a fascinating tour of some the most significant and often overlooked Art Deco architecture in Downtown Detroit. You will see many true works art from an era when artists and architects worked together to create amazing structures. Folded into this 3 hour fully narrated tour by Kim Rusinow of Show Me Detroit Tours, will be an opportunity to see firsthand the economic development initiatives that are reshaping the city of Detroit. Weather permitting; we will venture out to the only known Art Deco lighthouse in the United States, the William Livingstone Lighthouse on Belle Isle.”

The BELT – Art in the Alley

The Belt

The BELT is an art-filled alley between the two wings of The Z parking deck, located at 1234 Library Street in downtown Detroit. The alley is a joint project of Bedrock Real Estate Services and The Library Street Collective. Show Me Detroit Tours will keep you posted about the next Public Matter exhibition opening on May 22nd.
